Young Adults Mentoring

Ages 18 – 20

  • Team Mentoring

    Team mentoring involves two adults working with a small group of eight members. This free program spans three months - its the stepping stone into the next phase of mentoring.

  • Group mentoring

    The mentor assumes the role of leader and makes a commitment to meet regularly with the group of four members over a three month period of time.

  • 1:1

    At a minimum, the mentor and mentee should meet regularly at least four hours per month for at lest one year.

  • Virtual

    The pair communicate via telephone, texting, video calls etc., once week over a period of three months to one year.

  • Peer Mentoring

    Peer mentoring provides an opportunity for a caring young adult mentee to become a guiding, teaching and supportive relationship with a teen mentee.

Field Trips

All work and no fun, not here!
Our mentors and mentees also plan and go on field trips. These trips involve visits to Black historical and cultural sites in NYC, Museums, Action Parks, Movies, Bowling etc.

Book Club

The mentor and group choose a book to read collectively about careers and guidance on how to achieve them. This can be done via text book, audio books or videos.

Leadership Training

In these sessions the group discuss effective leadership development topics such as: conflict resolution, dealing with change, problem solving, building trust and respect etc., Preparing them to be tomorrow's leaders.

Volunteer activities

In this group setting mentors and mentees research and discuss what voluntary services is, some of the types of voluntary services, and what type of volunteer service we can provide for our community collectively.
